A Discussion of Stock Picks

Stock Picks are a great way to find new investment ideas, hot stocks and hot industries. Some stock plays are penny stocks, some are stock trades that could have a huge amount of potential. Investors should never invest in a stock pick unless they can afford to lose their entire investment.
Stock investing isn’t without its fair share of risk and investors should consider their own risk tolerance level and always consult their financial advisor. When finding stock ideas its important to screen stocks and make a list of stocks to start watching. Some of the best stocks are found by completing your own due diligence and learning as much as you can on stocks through books and other media. Experience in the stock market is also very important. Experience comes with stock trading and stock research.
Stock news is important to pay attention to when you find a stock pick and want to follow the stock. Also, investment newsletters usually follow stock picks and stock ideas. Investing in stocks requires attention to detail and what industries are hot and which ones are not. As they say, a rising tide can lift all ships, this goes the same for stocks sometimes. Stocks in an industry that is hot become hot stocks as a group and many of them begin to move within that industry. This can be small cap stocks, cheap stocks, value stocks or others.
Penny Stock Picks require investment research and there is not as much stock information on them. Remember, to always complete your own stock analysis on penny stock picks. NASDAQ and AMEX stocks are also popular in the stock market.
It is important to look at a stocks balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. Usually a stock pick profile will cover one if not all of these financial statements. There are also key ratios that investors can use as tools to consider a stocks value when completing investment research.
A ratio that is one of the most well known is the P/E ratio, known as just the PE ratio or Price to Earnings ratio or even known as the “earnings multiple” / “multiple”. A higher P/E ratio means that investors are paying more for each unit of income. A P/E ratio of a stock is a measure of the price paid for a share relative to the annual income or profit earned by the firm per share. The P/E ratio is calculated by dividing the stock price of a share by the annual earnings per share. Annual earnings per share is known as EPS. Generally, stocks with higher earnings growth will have a higher P/E and those with lower earnings growth will have a lower P/E.
Some investors like to do daytrading, also known as swing trading. There are a lot of good stocks that are free stock picks out there that give new stock ideas to those not finding as many new stocks as they’d like. Market timing can be very important as well.

My father says he only uses a chart set to 1 day, open hi close, fast stochastic(oversold and overbought). He only plays with 2 stocks at a time. He only plays with stocks that are 5 star/Strongbuy or Buy Ratings. He told me that he only buys when the fast stochastic is showing oversold and the red line crosses over the other and shows the uptrend. Is there anyone out there thats successful doing this method? Is there anyone out there have a more successful method of day trading? My pops calls himself a “graftist” and has been doing this for 20 years.. heheh. I would like to get into it, I’m just not sure if it’s that easy. Please help, A future “graftist”. : )

Techniques for Stock Market Analysis, Individual Stocks and Technical Analysis
Filed Under Personal Finance | Leave a Comment
beststock wrote:
Two popular types of stock analysis include technical analysis and fundamental analysis. Technical analysis is a financial markets technique that claims the ability to forecast the future direction of security prices through the study of past market data, primarily price and volume. Technical analysis in its purest form considers only the actual price and volume behavior of the market or instrument, on the assumption that price and volume are the two most relevant factors in determining the future direction and behavior of a particular stock or market.
Technical analysis is embraced by some and hated by others. It is widely used among traders looking for stock trades and deciding how to trade stocks. Technical analysts consider stock trends based on their chart and stock market close each day while completing stock technical analysis.
Technical analysts say that a market’s price reflects all relevant information, so their analysis looks more at “internals” than at “externals” such as news events. Price action also tends to repeat itself because investors collectively tend toward patterned behavior – hence technicians’ focus on identifiable trends and conditions.
When completing stock market analysis it’s important to consider stock market trends and look at the macro environment of the economy. One should study the stock indices and how they have performed lately and even years in the past by considering the stock chart of the market. Stock earnings can affect the stock market as a whole or just a few industries.
An industry that is hot could have many hot stocks within it and momentum stocks that could be very good stock ideas. Some investors decide to daytrade individual stocks that are hot and may trade up during one stock market session. It is important to do technical analysis when day trading. Investing should be considered risky and each investor needs to consider their risk tolerance.
Individual stocks can be undervalued stocks or bargain stocks that are cheap stocks. It is important to look at a stocks PE and other ratios that act as tools for investors. When considering the value of a stock, an investor needs to look at the company’s market capitalization or market cap to first have a point of comparison while researching stocks. Stock trends are also important to pay attention to as well as general stock market news for stock market analysis and stock news for individual stocks.
Stocks trade on several exchanges including the NASDAQ, AMEX, NYSE, OTCBB and Pink Sheets. This is where buying stocks occurs by online brokers for their clients. Investors can look for value stock or any other kind of stock they want. It is important to find as much stock market information as possible to experience new information and facts.
There are many stock tips and penny picks out there that investors can start to build a stock list or screening NASDAQ and AMEX stocks with a stock screen for new stock ideas. There are lots of investment opportunities out there in the stock market.
